November 2018
First of all let me say again how great it was to see so
many people at the Greenleaves Fall festival. It was amazingly successful.
Several people mentioned that we could do things like this without corporate
sponsorship, simply by pitching in. I have to agree. If throwing things
together in two weeks can produce such a fun event, imagine what we can do with
weeks of planning. With that in mind I would like to propose the Greenleaves
Spring Fling.
If you would like to volunteer to help plan our Spring Fling
please send me an email. Planners need to:
- · Set a date and a rain date.
- · Make lists of types of foods to bring and track who volunteers to bring what.
- · Print invitations and deliver them to each address (not everyone gets or wants emails from me).
- · Arrange games and activities for both children and adults.
- · Add all the things to this list I can’t think of at the moment
Second, let’s talk about our website. Right now there is no
security on the site. Anyone in the world who stumbles on it will be able to
read my posts and see our pages. I have it that way for two reasons. The first
is I don’t want to make it difficult for residents to access. Requiring a log
in with yet another password to remember is a bit of a burden.
The other and probably the real reason, administration of
website security can be quite burdensome itself. I’m not sure I have the time or knowledge to
do it correctly. For those reasons, I’m not putting any full names or pictures
on our website. I don’t want the pictures of your children to be appropriated
by people unknown to us or scammers to glean information from the site to help
them take advantage of residents.
Security aside, I would like to occasionally post pictures
of people and events in our neighborhood so I am open to changing those
policies. Maybe one or two of you out there might have some website management
experience and would like to volunteer to take over management of the site or
at least assist in administration. If
so, please contact me.
